Editor’s Pick:: Our big winner here is Sennheiser GAME ZERO PC Gaming Headset- Black. We believe that comfort is one of the most important things and this one is incredibly comfortable. The sound quality is crystal clear as well as the microphone sound, plus the price is not too absurd.

Best Gaming Headset Under $200

# 1 – ASTRO Gaming A38 Wireless Headset, Gray.

The first thing to say here is that the audio for these is excellent. Particularly considering they’re wireless the sound is very crisp. If you like being immersed in your games and being able to hear a pin drop, then you might like this headset.

Excellent battery life, ASTRO claim over 20 hours! While I can’t vouch for that, I got 10 hours out no problem and with no signs of slowing down either. For those of you who like marathon gaming sessions, this is a big bonus.

The great thing about wireless headsets is that there’s no mess, no cables to lose and nothing to fall over either. Even though some people claim wireless headphones is less performant than wired, having the cord getting stuck under your chair or in the armrest can get pretty annoying.

They don’t have surround sound. For a ‘gaming’ headset, and particularly for one that costs this much money, this is a severe letdown. Personally, I wouldn’t be prepared to drop this much cash on a headset that didn’t have surround sound when I can pick up cheaper ones that do.

Despite not having surround sound, this gaming headphone offers Wireless Bluetooth 4.0. Meaning you can connect them to your favorite Bluetooth enabled device, tablets, notebooks, smartphones, Android, and iPhone. A handy feature if you’re on a budget and don’t want to buy headphones for all your devices.

This model provides a built-in microphone you can easily and discreetly answer calls with just the touch of a button, even in the noisier of environments. Also, you can use it to communicate with your online friends via software like Discord and Skype.

The design is light but feels quite flimsy. It’s plastic and I’m not confident it would hold up to very much abuse. If you’re a bit rough with your toys you might prefer something a little sturdier. Like pretty much any gaming accessory, you need to take good care of it in order to keep it several years.

Ultimately, despite not having surround sound, this gaming headphone offers a great sound quality, 4.0 Wireless Bleutooth, compatible with many different platforms and wireless. In addition, when purchasing this model you get 3 Months Free Spotify Premium (US Only).

  • Wireless Bluetooth 4.0
  • Active Noise Canceling Speakers & Mic
  • Up to 20 hours of battery life.
  • Stylish design
  • No surround sound
  • Fragile Build

# 2 – Razer ManO’War Wireless 7.1 Surround Sound Gaming Headset.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the 2021-12-03 at 18:28 and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply to the purchase of this product.

This is a wireless headset and has up to 14 hours of battery life on a single charge. Although some people might not be bothered about whether their headsets are wireless it can definitely provide some advantages and it’s nice not having to worry about cables or wires.

The sound is excellent, particularly for a wireless headset which often struggles to compete with wired versions. Although it has 7.1 Surround Sound, I didn’t notice it in-game. I played Counter Strike and COD, and I don’t think it helped me at all. I still have plenty of testing to do though.

Comfort is pretty good, not the most comfortable headset I’ve looked at, but I had no problems with it. When it comes to gaming, the comfort is one of the most important things, as we tend to spend quite some time in front of our screens. If you’re the type of gamer to spend 10+ hours straight I’d recommend getting another model than this one.

This model offers an in-line control and fully retractable microphone for easy access. Meaning you can control volume and mute yourself very quickly. Plus you can position the microphone to your preferred taste, you can retract the microphone when eating so you don’t put food all over it, a handy option for hardcore gamers.

Some people might have a different experience, but I couldn’t get any use out of it. So if you’re looking for a headset to give you an advantage when playing, you might want to look at a wired alternative with SoundStage. I haven’t experienced any audio issues, but I’ve heard reports that some users have strange feedback from the speakers.

It’s a good set, but you can argue that it’s a little pricey for what it is. Especially since the surround sound didn’t really work for me. Despite that it offers good sound and microphone quality, plus the design is very beautiful and simple.

  • Good wireless signal
  • Very comfortable
  • Long battery life
  • Mostly made out of plastic.
  • No wired connection option

# 3 – LucidSound LS30 Wireless Universal Gaming Headset.

These gaming headsets were created for console gaming. Do not fear they work for PC. Some people say you might lose some features when using on the PC and others say you don’t. The sound quality won’t be affected if used for PC, that’s the most important part!

Speaking about important stuff, the comfort of these headphones. The ear cups are made out of memory foam with a quilted head rail padding plus they are very lightweight adding, even more, comfort to its users. Which is perfect for long gaming sessions or binge-watching your favorite tv shows.

The microphone on this is kind of unique. There is two different microphone, one is removable boom mic for online gaming chat, and the other one is an integrated mic for calls. Another bonus is the mic monitoring. It lets you hear your voice, so you don’t annoy your friends!

Like I mentioned above this headset was made for consoles and not PC. PC still supports the headset, the company plans on releasing future updates to fully support these on PC. Which is great for a new company to get know and appreciated by their new customers.

Often times the problem of wireless headphones are the battery life, it does not last long. Fortunately for us, the battery life roughly last for 8 hours, which is not bad but it’s not amazing, you can even monitor the battery level indicator which is a cool little bonus.

Unfortunately there is no surround sound supported by these headset, some people might not like this, still they are a pretty good headset. Especially for the price.

  • Up to 15 hours of battery life
  • Great look and quality
  • Combatible on multiple platforms
  • Designed for console, still work for pc
  • No Surround Sound

# 4 – ASTRO Gaming A40 TR Headset + MixAmp Pro TR.

I like the way it looks! It seems like the kind of thing the commander of a Starship would use to issue his orders. It’s very solid but at the same time is sleek and futuristic looking. Used by a lot of professional gamers and hardcore gamers.

I’m sure plenty of people won’t like it as much as me, but I was really impressed by how it looked. Great 7.1 surround sound. You’ll definitely be able to hear your enemies coming with this, great for online gaming. It gives you a small edge.

It’s very comfortable, and I had no problem wearing it for a couple of hours at a time. This is great if you’re into long gaming sessions and you want excellent comfort for this kind of price. Exquisite audio and microphone quality.

Pricey piece of kit, it’s one of the most expensive models on our list, I’d recommend getting it when it’s sale if you’re on a budget that it. It’s splendid and it’s not particularly expensive for what it offers.

Although I had a great experience with my set, there are some reviewers who haven’t been so impressed. Apparently, some headsets have issues with the audio and microphones. Again, my experience was very good, but this is worth looking into before making a purchase.

Plus this model includes the mix AMP, command center software allows Pros and Live streamers to tune every input and output parameter of the Mix Amp Pro TR to precisely configure it for their specific setup. A very nice feature to immerse you even more into gaming.

Overall, despite its high price this model offers over the top performance with it’s amazing surround sound and many focused features for gamers.

  • Superior Fit & Finish
  • Swappable Precision Microphone
  • Comes with the mix amp
  • Extremely good audio and microphone quality.
  • Software could use improvements
  • Kind of expensive

# 5 – Sennheiser GAME ZERO PC Gaming Headset.

Very comfortable. I still consider this the most important feature of a headset because you just won’t wear one that’s uncomfortable. The Sennheiser gets full marks here. It’s soft, fits nicely around my ears and is light enough to put very little strain on my neck.

Sound quality is superb. It’s easy to hear what’s happening in-game and listening to music or watching films is great as well. The sound is good enough on these that you can use them not just for gaming but for pretty much all your other listening needs as well.

The microphone is excellent, it also blocks out background noise, so if you’re into streaming or tend to play in a noisy environment, then this might be something to think about.

This model has a unique feature that can be very handy for people who travel a lot or don’t have extra storage space. The Sennheiser can fold, meaning you can fold them to be as large as the headband making them very easy to put in your travel bag or to store in a very small desk.

I thought this was a great quality headset (it’s also quite cheap considering its price bracket). But some users did have issues with it stopping working after a relatively short period. I had no such problems, but if you’re thinking about buying one I would definitely look into the long-term reliability and see if you can get a decent warranty.

Ultimately, the Sennheiser are a high-end gaming headset, often used by pro gamers and content creators ( streamers, Youtubers ). You can purchased these even if you’re a casual gamer as they offer over the top sound quality and top notch quality, but they are one of the most expensive pair on our list, so keep that in mind.

  • Extreme sound clarity & accuracy
  • Noise-canceling microphone
  • Ultimate comfort-plush
  • Small ear cups
  • Expensive

These headsets are a pretty good investment if your budget can handle it. They offer an amazing sound & microphone quality, a great comfort which is important for long gaming sessions plus some of them have unique and awesome looks.

Perfect for people who play for an extended period, your ears won’t be hurting thanks to the comfort. Casual gamers can benefit from these as well, but spending that much for a couple of hours a week might not be worth it, it all depends on what you want.

We hope this list gave you a clearer vision of the kind of features these high-end headsets could provide. If you think we missed one great gaming headset don’t forget to comment below.
